Future Positive

Each month we chat to a different Instagrammer in the city to find out their top tips on discovering Edinburgh. This month we caught up with Igor and Jakub from Future Positive, an online platform aimed at promoting creative and innovative businesses from around the world. In between travelling the globe, Igor and Jakub call Edinburgh home. Here they share their favourite things to do and see.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

We are an online platform showcasing inspiring stories behind creative businesses across the world and publishing city guides with a focus on local businesses and slow travel. We also run creative and digital studio Future Positive Studio.

Tell us your favourite places to eat and drink.

For coffee and a small bite we love Brew Lab on South College Street. We’re big fans of Mexican food and go to Wahaca on South St Andrew St quite often. We also like The Pakora Bar on Hanover St for takeaway and the burgers at The Southern on Clerk St.

We live in the Shore and we normally stay around here for drinks – our favourite pubs are Nobles and Malt & Hops.

Any little hidden gems in the city you would recommend to visitors.

Most visitors to Edinburgh don’t know about the Water of Leith and all the different paths you can take to walk or cycle. Living in the Shore, we normally take the Water of Leith to go to Stockbridge or the west end of Princes St. It’s a great way to avoid all the traffic and enjoy a peaceful walk.

Anything in the city you haven’t done yet but would like to do?

We haven’t visited ‘Edinburgh’s Wild West’ in Morningside yet. Every time we are around the area we forget about it. It’s on our list for this year!

Tell us about your perfect day in Edinburgh

On Sundays we like walking to Stockbridge Market by the Water of Leith to get something to eat. We normally pay a visit to clothing and accessories  shop Dick’s and spend some time around the charity shops in the area looking for books and interesting homeware. Sometimes we walk to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art to check the new shows and head back to the city centre to meet some friends for a drink around Broughton Street or the top of Leith Walk.
