Café Ink opens its doors at the Edinburgh Printmakers

Edinburgh Printmakers recently moved into its new £11m home in Fountainbridge, offering a creative hub in the capital and now artists and locals alike can enjoy the new café, which has opened within the building called, Café Ink.

Heritage Portfolio has developed the concept for Café Ink, creating a relaxed, casual dining experience within the backdrop of the contemporary art space. Situated on the first floor of the building it has floor to ceiling windows providing a bright, airy space close to the Union Canal.

Café Ink has 56 tables, as well as additional seating in the courtyard space for al fresco days. The menu has been designed to offer healthy, homemade, delicious dishes from breakfast through to early evening. A sustainable focus has been incorporated into the design of the café with old doors found in the building being upcycled into tables and all glassware is made from recycled glass.

Heritage Portfolio has developed a diverse all-day menu that recognises the latest food trends – a large proportion of the menu is vegan with the option for customers to add other ingredients to tailor to their taste buds with the addition of eggs, bacon, halloumi and chicken. This approach fits with the company’s ethos to operate sustainably and monitor its impact on the environment. It also works very closely with local suppliers to ensure its carbon footprint is kept to a minimum.
