Edinburgh Restaurant Festival 2018

Returning for its fourth year, the Edinburgh Restaurant Festival hopes to showcase the city’s expansive and varied culinary landscape. Run by Essential Edinburgh the festival will offer locals and visitors alike the chance to experience some foodie treats from over 20 city-centre restaurants and bars, between the 5th and 25th of February. Edinburgh has more restaurants per head of population than any other city in the UK, so it seems fitting for there to be a festival celebrating this culinary culture in our beautiful city.

This food-lover’s festival has a whole host of local favourites serving up exclusive offers during the month of February, including Harvey Nichols, The Ivy on the Square, Dishoom and Gaucho on St Andrew Square, as well as established hotspots like Gusto, The Rosehip, Badger & Co and Eteaket. With such a variety of businesses involved, there is something for every taste and budget.

The main event not to be missed at the festival this year is the Moveable Feast. An innovative concept of a 4-course meal, with dinners travelling to a different restaurant for each course. This event is ticketed and spaces are limited so be sure to book in soon so as not to miss out on this experience!

New this year to the festival is The Secret Dinning Experience! Meet at the Melville Monument in St Andrew Square before being escorted to a secret location with the promise of a culinary experience full of surprises and delights! Diners will have their taste buds tickled in a (surprise) unusual and intriguing setting! Again this event is ticketed which you can purchase via the Edinburgh Restaurant Festival website.

The Discovery cocktail from The Ivy on the Square, Edinburgh Restaurant Festival 2018

We had the pleasure of enjoying one of the exciting and exclusive tipples on offer during the festival from The Ivy on the Square. The aptly named Discovery cocktail, is a full-bodied blend of the Shackleton Whisky, Barolo Chinato, Vermouth, honey and rosemary syrup and Peychaud’s bitters. Fans of the traditional old-fashioned will love this contemporary whisky cocktail, but it is also a great way to be introduced to the traditional Scottish spirit. To try, make sure you pop into The Ivy between the 5th and 25th of February!
